Local Derby -
A strong Coggeshall U14's team took on Kelvedon last Friday.
Coggeshall chose to field first - a wise decision by captain Harry Doubleday - as Louis Gibson's first over saw the Kelvedon opening bat Eddie King bowled LBW for 1. With hopes and confidence high, Coggeshall went on, with economical and precision bowling by all (only 8 extras) to finish their 20 overs with a reachable target of 101. Special mention again to Louis who was instrumental in all 3 wickets being taken. Kelvedon's J Hyslop, G Barton and A Holder all scored highly.
With Doubleday and McCabe opening (Louis - fix those contact lenses next time!), Coggeshall got off to a flying start. Doubleday was not out - 53 runs being taken in style - admirably assisted by McCabe, Gibson, Slack and Brown. Kelvedon's extras total of 21 pushing Coggeshall to the win.
A great job, well done. Thanks to all the supporters who came along to see our boys in their first U14's match of the season.
