It was always going to be a tough one, with 2 of our highest scoring batsmen not able to make this game. In the event, the scoreboard just wasn't ticking over quickly enough, with chances of quick singles not taken.
We can definately learn from our opposition in this instance - they were really quick off the mark to run singles - and that was the difference between putting together a competitive score and not.
Hitting balls in the nets just doesn't give you that awareness - so we must learn from each match we play, and remain focused throughout.
That being said, Sam Docherty came to the rescue mid innings for a 32 not out, with 4 4s and a 6 - and got the scoreboard moving again.
Bowling was our strength in this match - and apart from Jonjo nearly depriving me of grandchildren - we did ok, although not quite as accurate as before, our less experienced players stood up and did the job!!
Well done to Jacob Ford, Sam Docherty and Ellis Valentine for their wickets.
So - one win, one loss so far - let's learn and move on to Colchester on Sunday!!!
