U14 impressive win over Witham

After a slight blip to the start of the season against Abberton last week the Under 14s displayed a great all round performance away to Witham this evening.
Fielding first every player bowled two overs with consistency throughout and great energy and support in the field. Henry G kept wicket impressively taking two catches, one of which being a fabulously dramatic superman dive! Witham ended their innings on 88-7 with wickets shared between Mattie, Sam, Thomas, Sophie, Aryan and Tom.
Louis and Henry Mc opened Coggeshall’s batting. Knowing they didn’t have a huge score to chase down they had time to play themselves in. Having seen out Witham’s opening fast bowlers they kept the scoreboard ticking over with assured batting and sensible running between wickets and once the scores were drawn it looked like it was all over. Witham however had other ideas! Henry Mc was dismissed on 34 having played a great innings, followed dramatically by two wickets falling in the next three balls by their returning fast bowler in the fading light. Louis kept his head though and played a lovely shot to the boundary to win the game with overs remaining, finishing on 24 not out.
More impressive than the win was the team spirit shown by all, encouraging one another and enjoying their cricket.
