CTCC Sat 1 XI vs Lakenheath

CTCC 1 XI sent bridegroom to be Will Blackwell off to his nuptials with a huge win over Lakenheath at home on Saturday. Batting first CTCC got off to a steady start before Olly Blackwell (8) became Lakenheaths first success. Jimmy Reece (33) and Dane Cleaver (62) doubled the score before Byron (73)entered the fray putting together a 98 stand with DC. DC was bowled and Will B came to the crease obviously excited by his wedding plans (or maybe not having to mow the outfield for a couple of weeks!!) and started to find runs easy to come by. The pair took the score to 200 before Byron was bowled. CTCC eventually totalled 299 off their 50 overs with WB not out on 78 including five 6's (four of which were off consecutive balls!) helped by George B and R Jagger both chipping in toward the end. Lakenheaths reply was always likely to be hampered by the daunting task ahead. A steady opening stand of 44 was broken by WB and then wickets fell at regular intervals before Lakenheath were all out for 131.The wickets were shared by George, Will and Rob J taking 3 a piece with one run out. A win by 168 runs,20 points and sunshine and celebrations ahead. Good luck Will and Rachel!!!
