U12's home win against Copford

This evenings thanks goes to Jo Raine for organising the game, Doug Raine for scoring, Steve Pamplin and Rick for preparing the wicket…….( The wicket doesn’t look that good without plenty of nurturing!) It’s a privilege to play on such a good wicket, which I am sure is the envy of most village sides.

Copford won the toss and elected to field first.

We scored 103-8, of which 53 were extras generously donated by Copford. We need to be setting our sights at closer to 150 in future which means a run rate of 7-8 runs an over. Needless to say we need to concentrate on hitting the bad balls.

We set ourselves quite a task – but through some great spells of bowling and some dogmatic determination in the field, we managed to pull off a win from what appeared to be a very low score.

Tonight’s win just goes to show what a side can achieve if they all pull together - very well done to you all. Let’s keep winning.

Copford 85 – 7 from 20 overs (Of the 85, 23 were extras (which equates to approx. 11 wide’s, (wide’s count as two runs) which goes to show our bowling was that much tighter than theirs)
