Conditions: A delightfully sunny evening, in a beautifully picturesque setting.
Thanks go to Jo Raine for organising the fixture/ team and to Doug Raine for scoring (becoming a very welcome habit!)Thanks also goes to Ivan ( Copford coach- who made us feel very welcome)
Rick Bailey – Coggeshall senior coach came to watch…. Many thanks
Coggeshall won
Coggeshall scored 189-2 off 20 over (Of which 68 were kindly donated by Copford’s extras!)
Copford scored 105-8 off 20 overs ( Of which 40 were donated by Coggeshall)
Whilst, I don’t wish to dwell on JJ too much for obvious reasons, to score 88-not out at this level shows a good level of concentration, something that I am sure JJ won’t mind me sharing with you, doesn’t often happen! I have encouraged JJ to remember how Alistair Cook bats at the wicket. You might notice that after each ball Cook re-assesses his position at the crease, to keep his level of concentration up. Whilst at the crease, I also encouraged JJ not to give his wicket away… remember guys, it’s a competition between the batsman against a number of bowlers. Hit the bad balls hard (no half-hearted shots), of which there were plenty of opportunities and defend the straight deliveries.
Our bowling showed a much better level of accuracy, albeit we still managed to give away 20 wides equating to 40 runs. We still have work to do on our bowling ……line and length (aim for the batsman’s feet, which should hopefully be in front of the stumps!)
I was pleased with our effort in the field, which kept their score in check and ultimately helped win the game. We need to stay alert in the field, walking in with the bowler and remembering where you fielded the previous over!
Well done …… another great win…. Let’s keep the winning momentum up.
Hopefully see you all on Monday night training.
Ed (Coach)
